Who doesn't remember the classic arcade mainstay, Pacman? Everyone is familiar with this ghost-hungry, yellow madman! What you might not remember is a lost gem from the arcade era: Qix. That's okay, though, because your favorite little ghost-eater is teaming up his style of game play with this forgotten classic. Young people the world over simply love this classic game.

Much like the original game of Pacman, your object is to progress through each level, eating anything and everything (including ghosts, but only when their powers are temporarily down). In this version of Pacman, instead of eating the ghosts, you'll need to build walls around them in order to capture them. Once you fill up more than 75% of the screen, you will have beaten one level and moved on to the next! This sounds more challenging and certainly more fun too.

However, when you decide to go about building your walls, never underestimate the ghosts. If they make their way to you or clog up your path, you will lose one of your ever-important lives. To combat their sneaky ways, try trapping ghosts in small areas and save walling up the big areas (for big points) as the last thing you do. That’s the strategy of the game to win big points.

Keep your eyes peeled for special power-ups that will sporadically appear on your screen. These power-ups, much like the giant orbs in the original Pacman, will give you huge advantages over the evil ghosts. Munch down the power orbs as you would in the original game and the ghosts will follow suit, turning blue and running away in the manner that you have always remembered. Chase the ghosts down and eat them up in order to temporarily keep them out of your hair and score bonus points. You will see your points adding up very quickly with bonus point's allocation.

If you are having trouble keeping ghosts away from your general direction, scarf down some cherries and you'll become super-charged with enough speeds to leave the ghosts in your dust—this will also help you clear the levels faster. Make sure you don't get picky with fruit, either. If you see some bananas floating around, be sure to grab them. They slow the ghosts down to a snail's pace, giving you just as much of an advantage as the cherries did. Finally, finish things off with some dessert! Grab a popsicle whenever you can and throw it down the hatch. In an ironic twist, the ghosts will suffer a temporary sugar high for something that you ate and they will become immobile for a few seconds. Take advantage of their inability to move and clear the level while the ghosts are stuck in their tracks! Don’t you feel like playing this game already?

It is a cheap and worthwhile entertainment to keep us usefully occupied in our quest to graduate the course lasting three to four years. No wonder the games programmers are making tons of money thinking different strategies while making improvements to the original game of Pacman that everyone loves to try their hands on. So whenever you have reached the expert level of Pacman and mastered the game, you can always try its alternative game of PAC XON with a twist and a different strategy. Who says one can be bored from playing games?

As an aside, my cousin who is staying in Japan has bought many playstation games and while her husband goes about working during office hours in Information Technology, she entertains herself with so many kinds of such games at home that’s connected to the television. Even bored housewives are trying their hands on video games with much time on their side. It keeps the brain functioning all the time and in a way helps to prevent Alzheimer’s disease that destroys the brain cells slowly.
