Chapter 4 - Hotel Del-Sin-Eah


"You hungry Mallet?" I asked as we stood on the sidewalk looking up and down the ghostly streets. "Yeah Sharky, im starving, why? Whats up partner? That’s when I suggested we head on down to the Hotel and casino delphineah. The dolphins never sleep! Constant games and shows. They have concerts, theater, boxing and betting. Gamblers and hustlers. Money and sex. The everyday norm for the funloving dolphins. So seductively they're in our faces with their neon signs of corruption. But what the hell! It's my man Mallets b-day! His one and only one day of the entire year to just relax and let it all hang out. And we were definitely letting it all hang out!

The shellphones were off and in our jacket pockets. No one could find or reach us as we gambled that morning. We played high steaks pacific hold'ems and black jack. I was down about five hundred clams within the first two hours. I decided to call it quits and just Mallet play, as he was up about three grand and rising fast! I bought him drink after drink as he manipulated deck after deck for another three hours. A passing waitress told me the time; it was ten twenty-six in the morning. "Were in trouble Sharky!" Says mallet as he cashes out with nearly five grand in earnings. He was referring to our wives ofcourse. "You're paying for the cab Mallet." All of it. And don’t say you cant afford it either ya lucky prick."

We stood outside the delphinea and sparked the last pre rolled seaweed splif. I called the cab from the taxi phone outside. The currents were cold and merky that morning. Perfect weather for sleeping off a hangover in bed all day. It was definitely going to be a stormy afternoon. We looked like absolute hell im sure of it, but we felt like a million clams. Mallet and I locked our fins and hugged eachother briefly. "Happy birthday buddy." I said one last time. "The world is ours Chico!" I said. "And everything in it! He finished.
