Chapter 5 - Sharky's D-Day


As the cab slows to a stop infront of mallets house he throws a thousand clams on my lap and says. "This is for the cab, and bring me some breakfast if your up and swimming by tomorrow, ok." "I love you Sharky and turn on your shell now, so I can call you if I need to ok!" Says mallet as he shuts the door behind him. "I love you too Mallet." I mumble to myself as I reach in my coat pocket to turn on my phone. As the cab pulled off, I watched as mallet stumbled across his lawn with his fin in a fist. Held high over his head as he punched the sky. I could hear him in my head, he was saying, the ocean is ours Chico! The ocean is ours!

Now I find myself all alone in the cab with only my thoughts as company. And with all the excitement the night had provided, all I can seem to think of is an extremely angry angelfish, and a pissed off sidekick. Sampson the killer catfish! It makes me smile from ear to ear and feel extremely thankful to be on my way back home to her. And on that very note, my shell begins to vibrate in my pants pocket. It’s almost ten o’clock am. Im in no mood for shellamarketers or early fish on the prowl for some of Mallets super fine seaweed.

I reluctantly say hello as I flip open my shelli. "Sharky!" "It's Mallet, listen to me man, you’ve got to turn the cab around right now." I can hear a trembling in his voice I've never heard before. "Sharky, I'm not playin man, it's serious!" Mallet yells even louder into the phone. "Calm down man, your scaring me!" I tried to say. But before I could finish, the voice on the phone changed. It was Ashley. What’s she doing at Mallets? "Baby you’ve got to turn around now, you can’t go home baby, you’ve got to trust me!"

I was already roundi"g the reef at this point and was on the home stretch. "Look baby, I'm almost home, I'll grab a change of clothes and be right over ok." And then I saw it. The hypnotic glow of red, blue and amber lights strobing and flashing. Manabalances, firewhales and what seemed like a thousand S.V.P.D squid cars lined my whole street! The whole SharksVille police force must be on my street, is what I thought. The cabby is saying something in crabineese. Ashley is yelling my name through the phone. My neighbor’s son, lil Tony Anchovy is pounding on the cab window franticly. Police fish were approaching and waving us to move on. Then it all clicks! I tell the cabby to take me back to my friends house. Without raising the phone from my lap I say. "Im on my way baby, I'll see ya soon." And as I look out the rear window I see lil Tony Anchovy, it looks like he’s distracting the police away from my cab. What in the shell is going on I thought as I turned off my shelli. I just couldn’t think with all the vibrating and constant ringing.
