Adventures Of Sharky
Chapter 9 - The Station

As I approached the front steps of the Sharksville Police Department headquarters, the three cops, obviously out on their smoke break, suddenly paused, with jaws dropped and stared at me. They instantly looked away when I made eye contact with them as I passed by and forcefully flung open the heavy steel doors.

Inside was a frenzy of ringing phones and fins furiously clicking away at the computer keyboards. Police scanners and radios were crackeling and blaring police jargen and giberish. Uniformed officers and plain clothed fish were swiftly swimming to and fro, carrying files and papers, screeching back and forth at one another.

Toward the back of the station, against the far right wall. I noticed two old school looking mobster lobsters in very nice italian suits and hats. They were shackeled to a bench with their claws banded. The bench was securily bolted to the wall.

A little to the left of them was a large office. It was enclosed by slightly tinted glass walls on 3 sides. The back wall was dark yellow, pure concrete, littered in plaques and certificates. In any case, the office had a commanding view of the whole station. Inside the office was a large and very angry looking tuna fish. On his chest was a shiny silver badge pinned to a very neat looking white shirt. He must be the chief I thought to myself.

He was yelling and shaking his fins at the two mackeral sitting in front of him. They looked like two children being scolded by their mother. But my guess was that they were detectives. They were dressed in somewhat shabby and cheap looking brown suits and red ties. One of them had his coat open and I could see his 38 snub nose tucked tightly in his underarm holster, a dead give away in my books.

They kept looking back over their shoulders as if keeping an eye on the two mobsters, who now dres my attention. I recognized one of them from being in and out of the news broadcasts over the years. Yup, that's him alright, the infamous Timmy Two Claws. The other was obviously a croney. He looked as if he'd been hit on the head a few too many times.; He had that duhhhh look in his eyes. He's obviously just Timmy Two Claws' yes man.

Two Claws, however, had that trademark mobster smirk on his face, and an over confident and arrogant, you can't touch me look in his beady little eyes. I started to make my way toward the angry tunas office. I wasn't even halfway there when an eerie silence fell upon the entire station. All eyes were on me now and no one spoke a word.

The only noise in the whole station was from the telephones left ringing and the crackeling police scanners. Chief Tuna instantly noticed the silence and swam from his office, ordereing everyone back to work. "Hey Chief, you looking for me?" I yelled accross the room. He just stared at me blankly for a few seconds.

"Sharky?", "Yeah that's me chief!". "Someone better tell me what the hells going on, and where's detective McKaskel?" He quickly approached and extended a fin, I left him hangin. I was in no mood for formalities. He lowered his fin slowly and introduced himself as Eddy Tuna, Chief of Police.

Behing him the two mackerel from inside his office were swimming toward us. I could tell by the look on their faces that they wanted to talk to me urgently. So I pushed Chief Eddy aside and asked the two mackerel, "Which of you is McKaskel?" The older looking one said he was. He said he was the one of the phone talking to me earlier and said we should talk in the chiefs office, extending a fin to let me swim by.

As I got closer to the chiefs office the scared lookin lobster sitting next to Timmy Two Claws suddenly got silent and shakey. He kept looking up at me and quickly looking away. Timmy Two Claws was also suddenly quiet, and that over confidant look on his face was now gone. I could tell that something was up, but I wasn't sure what.
